Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment secures extra $13.2m funding boost

The investment will prioritise a 15-bed short-stay unit and a helipad landing site.

An additional $13.2m (A$20.3m) investment has been approved for the $305.8m (A$471.5m) Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment in Western Australia (WA), according to the Australian government.

The additional funding will prioritise a 15-bed emergency department short-stay unit and a helipad landing site.

"This redevelopment will transform Bunbury Regional Hospital into the largest hospital in regional WA,” said Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey.

The redevelopment will feature additional medical and intensive care beds, an expanded emergency department, increased operating theatre capacity, and new and expanded maternity, birthing and neonatal services.

In addition, the project will introduce the state’s first regional teaching, training, and research centre.

The concept and schematic design phases are complete with Stage 1 construction works underway since February.
