Hong Kong public accident and emergency fees to rise in 2026
Currently, public A&E departments charge a rate of $23.2 (HK$180).
Hong Kong’s public accident and emergency (A&E) departments will raise their fee to $51.5 (HK$400) per visit starting 1 January 2026.

Meanwhile, treatment for critical and emergency cases will be free of charge at public A&E departments.
At a press conference, Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau stated that the reform is designed to provide greater support to underprivileged individuals and patients with severe or critical conditions.
He added that the additional revenue generated will be reinvested in public hospital services.
