Australian institute introduces faster prostate cancer treatment in Lismore
Higher radiation doses are administered over five sessions, compared to the previous 20.
A new prostate cancer treatment is now available at the North Coast Cancer Institute in Lismore, New South Wales, according to the Australian government.
The stereotactic radiotherapy treatment administers higher doses of radiation over five sessions, compared to the previous standard of 20 sessions with smaller doses.
Meanwhile, the treatment is expected to be available from the new Tweed Valley Hospital Integrated Cancer Care service soon.
