Australia announces $6m boost for health worker housing in Armidale

It aims to support over 500 healthcare workers and their families.

The Minns Labor Government is investing $6m to build and upgrade health worker accommodation in Armidale.

Part of a $200.1m statewide program, the funding will help secure 120 dwellings across regional NSW through new builds, refurbishments, and property purchases.

The four-year plan aims to support over 500 healthcare workers and their families, making it easier to recruit and retain staff in rural and regional areas.

This investment builds on the previous $73.2m spent on health worker housing across five regional health districts, including Hunter New England and Western NSW.

"The Minns Labor Government is committed to investing in modern, sustainable accommodation options for key health workers who are the backbone of our regional, rural and remote communities,” said Regional Health Minister Ryan Park.
