Minor works are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025.

The Australian government in New South Wales has announced a $1.07m (A$1.7m) funding boost aimed at upgrading hospitals and health facilities across the region.

Minister for Regional Health, Ryan Park, said that several projects will be undertaken within the Northern NSW Local Health District as part of the government’s $7.6m (A$12m) Regional Health Minor Works Programme.

Key projects include upgrades to the cardiac catheter lab chiller at Lismore Base Hospital, along with improvements to the facility’s mental health high dependency unit's observation, seclusion area, and courtyard.

Maclean District Hospital’s mortuary will undergo improvements, Grafton Base Hospital’s emergency department will receive short-stay unit upgrades, and Ballina District Hospital’s general ward will have its hot water system replaced.

Meanwhile, the Goonellabah Dental Service will undergo a roof replacement, whilst Nimbin MPS will see facade painting and refurbishment.
