Honeywell to provide building automation for Victoria’s first fully electric hospital

The 274-bed facility will use Honeywell’s building management solutions to improve energy efficiency and operational performance.

Honeywell has been chosen as the building automation provider for the new Melton Hospital, Victoria’s first fully electric hospital.

The 274-bed facility will use Honeywell’s building management solutions to improve energy efficiency and operational performance.

Under a 25-year contract, Honeywell will install its Honeywell Forge Enterprise Performance Management software, which will optimise energy consumption, security, and maintenance.

The hospital will be powered entirely by electricity, reducing emissions and supporting Victoria's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Honeywell Forge will also enable condition-based maintenance, enhance system resiliency, and reduce energy costs. Its machine learning capabilities will automatically adjust the hospital’s energy use for optimal savings without compromising air quality.

The hospital will also feature Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) technologies to maximise energy and water efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Melton Hospital will offer a 24-hour emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, mental health care, radiology, and a new education hub for healthcare professionals. The hospital is being delivered through a public-private partnership, with Western Health operating clinical services and Exemplar Health overseeing the hospital's design, construction, and maintenance.
