Healthcare Professionals Community formed to support growth of 9,000 workers

Members of the community are from nine healthcare associations.

The Healthcare Services Employees' Union (HSEU) has formed the Healthcare Professionals Community (HPC) to support the growth of about 9,000 healthcare workers.

Members of HPC, who are workers of the nine healthcare associations, can access the resources of HSEU and the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC).

The HPC will extend training opportunities available to public healthcare workers to those in private healthcare and specialised fields such as optometry, oral health therapy, psychology, and physiotherapy.

As part of its partnership with the healthcare associations, HSEU also formed Operation and Technology Roadmaps (OTR) and Company Training Committees (CTC) to support workers impacted by sector changes.

HSEU said healthcare workers can expect improved wages, welfare, and career prospects as part of these efforts.

To strengthen ties with the associations, HSEU will launch the Healthcare Mentorship Programme (HCMP) in early 2025 in partnership with the Ong Teng Cheong Labour Leadership Institute.

The two-way mentorship will allow association and HSEU leaders to exchange expertise.
