TPCH’s new specialist clinic emphasises Bronchiectasis care

The facility offers targeted therapies by integrating medical and physiotherapy care.

The Prince Charles Hospital’s (TPCH’s) new specialist clinic is set to treat patients with Bronchiectasis, a complex lung condition where a person’s airways become inflamed and enlarged.

The clinic offers integrated services to provide targeted therapies and education that can help patients manage their chronic conditions.

This includes access to respiratory tests to confirm airway obstruction, assess severity, and provide better disease characterisation.

Meanwhile, Phil Masel, a respiratory physician at TPCH, mentioned that patients with bronchiectasis experience breathing difficulties due to excessive mucus in their lung airways.

“Physiotherapy plays a critical role in managing flare-ups and keeping the lungs clear for day-to-day wellness,” he said.

In line with this, the new clinic features a team of specialist physiotherapists who will provide patients with exercises to help clear sputum from the lungs.

“By having timely access to a specialist team, patients can get the treatment they need sooner to help them manage their condition and enjoy a better quality of life,” Masel added.
