New Zealand’s HIV tests market set for growth at 2% CAGR until 2033

EIA tests accounted for around 49% of the country’s HIV test market in 2023.

New Zealand’s HIV tests market is projected to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 2% through 2033, according to GlobalData.

The report showed that initiatives, such as targetted outreach programmes and community-based testing services at events contributed to the market’s growth.

Moreover, enzyme immunoassay (EIA) tests accounted for around 49% of the country’s HIV tests market in 2023, due to their simplicity and accuracy.

The report also mentioned that the social networking app, Grindr Inc., has partnered with the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa to provide free at-home HIV test kits in New Zealand.

“Free HIV testing plays a crucial role in combating the HIV epidemic by promoting equitable access and normalizing testing behaviours associated with HIV.” Shreya Jain, medical devices analyst at GlobalData, said.

“By making testing widely available without cost, individuals are encouraged to take responsibility for their health, leading to earlier diagnosis, improved management of the disease, and reduced transmission rates,” Jain added.
