CUHK, virtual insurer Bowtie unveil wellness package

The CUHKMC Wellness Package has a US$25.57 (HK$200) monthly premium.

CUHK Medical Center and Hong Kong’s first virtual insurer, Bowtie, launched the “CUHKMC Wellness Package which entails a monthly premium of US$25.57 (HK$200) regardless of age and gender.

In a statement, Bowtie said the Wellness Package will be available for Bowtie’s Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) Flexi Plan customers.

Customers who availed of the wellness package will receive full reimbursement for various package fees which include 139-day procedures and 228 in-pation operation/procedure packages.

This also covers all doctors' fees and all hospital charges for procedure-related standard items and drugs, which include expenses for complications and intensive care arising due to the operation/procedure.

The package will also offer a “comprehensive and tailored” physical examination which includes consultation sessions and an annual body check free of charge, and BowtiePoints worth (HK$1,500) which they can use for over 20 target examinations or health services based on their needs.

“Package fee is transparent and predictable to both patient and insurance company. This collaboration demonstrates the beauty of package fee, leading to a win-win situation for all three parties,” CUHKMC CEO Hong Fung said.

“On the other hand, the annual free check-up offered by Bowtie can encourage the public to develop the habit of attending health checks on a regular basis, echoing one of the goals of primary healthcare - early detection and early treatment," he added.

Bowtie also aims to streamline the medical record retrieval process, with patients availing of the Wellness Package receiving a specific medical card which CUHKMC will automatically use for a pre-approval application to the insurer, removing any administrative procedures.
