Malaysia aspires to be Asia's hepatitis C treatment capital

It is part of the county's recovery plans for the healthcare travel industry.

Malaysia will place itself as a hepatitis C treatment hub in the Asia region during the Expo 2020 Dubai from 3 to 8 January.

According to Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) CEO Mohd Daud Mohd Arif, making Malaysia a hepatitis C treatment hub is part of MHTC's recovery plans for the country's healthcare travel industry. "With our continuous commitment to excellence, safety and quality, we are ready to provide the treatment to healthcare travellers from around the world, especially the Middle East market, and Expo 2020 Dubai is the perfect platform for us to showcase our strengths as a leading healthcare destination."

MHTC has also signed more memoranda of understanding with International Assistance Sdn Bhd and Hadid International Services. These partnerships would allow Malaysia's healthcare players to build a strong presence in both Middle Eastern and ASEAN markets and gain new customer pipelines.

According to the International Living's Global Retirement Index from 2015 to 2021, Malaysia won the "Best Country in the World for Healthcare." It also won an award for the "Destination of the Year" by the International Medical Travel Journal for four years.
