Hong Kong Hospital Authority launches centralised HA Go app

Its new features include a specialist outpatient clinic booking service.

The Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) has launched its HA Go mobile app, which allows patients to check appointments made in HA hospitals or clinics, pay hospital bills, book appointment for a new case of specialist outpatient services, view medications, and perform rehabilitation exercises following prescriptions.

Different functions of HA Go will be released in phases and will later be available to caregivers and guardians.

Currently, only holders of Hong Kong Identity Card aged 18 or above can register their own HA Go account. The app will generate a QR code that will facilitate the activation in an HA hospital.

HA has included new features into the app like a specialist outpatient clinic (SOPC) new case booking service as well as multimedia rehabilitation programmes like in-house videos and games.

HA Go is part of Hong Kong’s effort to better engage patients in their own care. Previously, Dr NT Cheung, chief medical informatics officer at HA, told Healthcare Asia, “The app will be able to take relevant patient data from the system and customize the experience for the patient. And the patient data will also then flow back into the medical record for the doctor’s review. It’s a complete picture end-to-end involving the patient and tying in with the workflow of the doctor who is already electronically enabled, but at the moment the last mile of the patient is not available.”
