Medtech startup incubator launched in Singapore

The 22,000-sq. ft. facility will house over 10 firms.

Singapore has unveiled a new technology centre geared at helping Southeast Asian healthcare ventures to reach the global market.

Led by an investment from Accuron Medtech Group, the Technology Centre in Tuas provides incubator facilities and business services that will be made available to startups in which Accuron MedTech makes strategic investments.

To date, Accuron MedTech has done more than 10 strategic transactions, including investments in renal companies AWAK Technologies and Advent Access, and NASDAQ-listed ASLAN Pharmaceuticals.

AWAK Technologies, a medical technology company focused on dialysis using regeneration technology for end-stage renal disease, is the first portfolio company to move its headquarters to the 22,000-sq. ft. Technology Centre.

“Medical Technology companies are placing increasing emphasis on open innovation and collaboration, to catalyse value creation and product optimisation for medical devices. The Technology Centre is an important undertaking that brings together the deep engineering and design capabilities of a large corporate such as Accuron MedTech, with the agility of start-ups to enable the development of new solutions for regional and global healthcare needs from Singapore," said Beh Kian Teik, assistant managing director, Singapore Economic Development Board

Earlier in 2018, Accuron MedTech announced a co-investment of S$20 million together with SEEDS Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore, to identify and catalyse the growth of high-potential Singapore-based start-ups.
