South Korea’s MOHW holds on-site meeting on emergency care improvements
Planned reforms include developing a rapid transport–acceptance–transfer system.
South Korea’s Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun Kyeong visited the National Medical Center and the National Emergency Medical Center to meet staff and experts on emergency system reforms.
Planned improvements include revising designation criteria for emergency medical institutions to prioritise capacity for treating severe cases, introducing differentiated compensation based on institutional roles, and establishing a rapid transport–acceptance–transfer system.
Meanwhile, feedback gathered from frontline workers and experts during the meeting will inform the finalisation of these initiatives.
The government aims to address the ongoing issue of emergency department patient refusals due to various accumulated factors.
