Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital to invest $169m in new proton therapy centre
The hospital will implement Dynamic ARC technology.
South Korea’s Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital is set to launch a proton therapy centre, with over $169m invested for Phase 1 of construction.
The hospital has signed a contract with Ion Beam Applications (IBA) to introduce the IBA Proteus®PLUS platform, featuring adaptive proton therapy and Dynamic ARC technology.
Dynamic ARC delivers proton beams continuously whilst a 360-degree rotating gantry adjusts angles in 0.1-degree increments.
The technology reduces exposure to surrounding healthy tissue and shortens treatment time, the hospital said.
Phase 1 of construction will cover equipment installation and is scheduled to begin initial operations by late 2029.
