Royal Hobart Hospital's pharmacy redevelopment 30% complete

One of its key facilities includes a dedicated space for research, education, and clinical trials.

The project works for the $14.4m (A$22m) Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) pharmacy redevelopment are now 30% complete, with the wall framing and installation of underlying electrical, data, plumbing, heating, and cooling services finished.

Slated for completion by mid-2025, stage one of the project is expected to be done by early next year.

Key facilities to be delivered include new sterile drug manufacturing areas and a dedicated space for research, education, and clinical trials.

According to the Australian government, the RHH pharmacy aims to increase the production of complex medicines, such as IV chemotherapy, as well as allow the hospital to provide first nutrition from custom-made fluids.

Moreover, the Jack Jumper Ant Venom Immune Therapy programme will be co-located with the pharmacy and is set to receive new production facilities.
