Regional travel burdens push KPJ Perdana to expand locally

It is expected to improve access to specialist services within Kelantan.

KPJ Perdana Specialist Hospital marked the groundbreaking of a new hospital facility in Kota Bharu under the KPJ Health System as part of its initiative to strengthen specialist care capacity across its network.

According to the hospital, the expansion is expected to improve access to more comprehensive specialist services within Kelantan, particularly in oncology, critical care, and advanced medical treatment.

It is also intended to reduce the need for patients to travel outside the region for certain types of specialised care.

Upon completion, the new facility is expected to increase KPJ Perdana’s capacity to more than 300 beds by 2030 and include more than 80 specialist consultation suites.

It is also expected to incorporate modern clinical infrastructure and digital systems, including Smart Ward capabilities, to support more efficient care coordination, patient monitoring and treatment delivery.
