Private hospitals adopt more digital solutions vs public hospitals: report

Private hospitals prioritise digitisation for personalised patient information.

A study from L.E.K. Consulting showed that private hospitals adopt more digital solutions than public hospitals in Japan, with initial consultation and diagnosis having the highest digital solutions.

In the report, L.E.K. Consulting said private institutions are prioritising their digital tools for pushing information to patients (53%), portable personal health (43%), and patient-accessible health records (23%).

For public hospitals, they focus more on health records (40%), portable personal health (40%), followed by personalised info for patients (15%).

Although the overall adoption of EMRs in the past years increased to 60% (7-10%) CAGR the pace is expected to plateau with the long history of paper medical records use and lack of dedicated tech staff.
