Philippines’ Asian Hospital launches interstitial lung disease centre
It will provide care for a group of disorders that may progress to pulmonary fibrosis.
Asian Hospital and Medical Centre (AHMC), supported by Boehringer Ingelheim (Philippines) Inc., has launched the interstitial lung disease (ILD) centre as part of the newly established Asian Institute of Respirology (AIR).
The centre will provide comprehensive care for patients with ILD, a group of disorders that cause symptoms such as shortness of breath and chronic cough and may progress to pulmonary fibrosis.
In line with this, AIR plans to offer fellowship training in pulmonary rehabilitation and introduce a tuberculosis-directly observed treatment, short-course clinic.
Meanwhile, collaboration between AHMC and Boehringer Ingelheim is focused on improving patient outcomes through support programmes and ongoing medical education.
