NTUH automates medication dispensing in century-old pharmacy

The system dispenses 3,800 medication boxes daily

National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) has installed a new automated system within a century-old heritage building in their west campus capable of dispensing 3,800 medication boxes daily.

The unit-dose dispensing machine and conveyor system in its outpatient pharmacy aims to improve dispensing efficiency and accuracy, according to a press statement from NTUH.

The installation required careful planning to preserve the structure. NTUH redesigned workflows, integrated new information systems, and optimised the process to minimise disruption to operations.

The hospital aims to continue refining its pharmacy services, using automation to enhance medication safety and delivery speed.
