New dialysis unit to open in Blenheim, New Zealand

It is expected to free up capacity at Nelson Hospital.

A new dialysis unit is set to be established in Blenheim, New Zealand, according to Health Minister Simeon Brown.

The four-chair unit is expected to ease patient burden and free up capacity at Nelson Hospital for patients needing specialist dialysis care.

“For too long, people in Marlborough needing dialysis have had to travel to Nelson Hospital three times a week, resulting in a total of four to five hours of travel each week,” Brown said.

The facility is expected to open in October this year.
