New Delhi launches healthcare and food safety initiatives

This is part of government's commitment to providing "Healthcare for All" and promoting wellness.

New Delhi Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav and Smt. Anupriya Singh Patel have unveiled three initiatives aimed at improving healthcare quality and streamlining food safety regulations.

These initiatives include a virtual National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) assessment for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAM), a comprehensive dashboard to aid national, state, and district health institutions in monitoring compliance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS), and a spot food license and registration initiative for food vendors.

Additionally, the also launched NQAS for Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHL) to enhance lab testing quality. This move is expected to boost the reliability of test results and foster greater trust amongst clinicians, patients, and the public. Revised guidelines for the Kayakalp program were also introduced.

Jadhav emphasised the government's commitment to providing "Healthcare for All" and promoting wellness.

He highlighted notable achievements, including the establishment of over 1.73 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, the doubling of medical colleges since 2014, the increase in AIIMS institutions from 7 to 23, and the more than doubling of PG and MBBS seats since 2014.

“Government is committed to strengthening the healthcare system with more skilled human resources and quality infrastructure that can tackle both present and future medical challenges”, he said during the event.

The event also featured testimonials from healthcare workers across India who shared their experiences with NQAS training and certification, as well as food vendors who discussed the benefits of receiving FSSAI licenses and registrations for their stalls.
