New ADHD outreach clinic to launch in Moree, Australia
The first clinic will be held on 5 November.
A new outreach clinic in Moree is set to launch for children aged six to 12 with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as part of a $5.1m (A$7.7m) investment from the Australian government.
The first clinic will be held on 5 November, with additional visits scheduled for the coming months. It will be staffed by a team of two paediatricians, a clinical nurse consultant, and a shared care coordinator from John Hunter Children Hospital’s ADHD Clinic.
Paediatricians will conduct individualised assessments and diagnoses, after which they will share a care plan with the patient’s family GP, which may include follow-up appointments with the multidisciplinary team via telehealth.
Eligible patients on Moree Hospital’s existing general paediatric waitlist have already been contacted to schedule appointments for the outreach clinic.
Meanwhile, the clinic will not accept direct referrals. Families seeking an ADHD assessment for their child are advised to continue referring to their local general paediatric service.
