Launceston General Hospital unveils new CT scanning facilities

This upgrade includes one of two new machines, with the second to be operational by October.

Australia’s Launceston General Hospital (LGH) has launched new CT scanning facilities in its emergency department (ED) for improved diagnostic capabilities.

This upgrade includes one of two new CT scanners, with the second expected to be operational by October, replacing the hospital’s single existing machine.

According to Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Guy Barnett, the new equipment will improve patient access, with one scanner primarily for emergencies and the other for the rest of the hospital’s services.

Barnett further mentioned that this move is part of a broader initiative under the LGH Masterplan, aimed at enhancing facilities in the hospital’s ED, acute care zone, and the wider LGH precinct.
