KKH unveils 15 programmes to boost population health, fertility rates

One key programme aims to maintain metabolic wellness and prevent new health risks.

KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) has announced 15 programmes aimed at enhancing population health and improving Singapore’s fertility rates. The initiatives, backed by philanthropic partners, involve a funding of over $23m (S$30m).

Key programmes include the Paediatrics & Endocrinology Life-Course Action Network (PELiCAN), which aims to maintain metabolic wellness in families and prevent new health risks that can aggravate existing metabolic disorders in children.

Another initiative is the Preterm Pregnancy Prevention Programme, designed to provide personalised care with accurate screening and predictive tools to reduce and prevent preterm pregnancies and births.

The programme will also establish a national database for close monitoring of women with risk factors for preterm pregnancy.

In addition, the KKH-led MCHRI is developing a Community Midwifery Programme to offer family-centric education to new parents in their homes, covering the first six weeks after childbirth.
