It will also provide an outlook on healing trajectories based on the collected data.
Mobile health technologies and remote patient monitoring will play a crucial role in chronic wound care which includes enhancing patience management and self-management through educational materials and symptom trackers.
In a report, GlobalData added that mobile health platforms can also help analyse data to identify patterns and predict healing trajectories based on the large patient data volumes which include wound characteristics.
“Potentially one of the most important benefits that mHealth and remote patient monitoring can provide is the ability to enable real-time monitoring of chronic wounds remotely. This allows for timely intervention and adjustment of treatment plans without needing frequent clinic visits,” Alexandra Murdoch, Senior Medical Analyst at GlobalData, said.

GlobalData noted that John Hopkins Hospital is collaborating with software development firm Healthy.io to launch a smartphone-based wound care technology for chronic diabetic wounds.
Patients can scan their wounds through the Minuteful for Wound app which will enable care teams to monitor their patients in real-time and remotely.
The initial stage of the pilot programme showed that 36% of patients saw clinical improvement in wound management and 94% noted that the system was easy to use.
