Here’s what’s next for Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital
It will be renamed ‘Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital’ once the redevelopment is complete.
The $280m (A$438m) redevelopment of Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital has entered a new phase, with the removal of scaffolding now underway on the newly built acute services building.
The public will also see a change in the facility’s name. Upon completion of the redevelopment, the establishment will be officially renamed ‘Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital’.
The Australian government in New South Wales said the new name reflects the region’s historic ties to the Australian Defence Force and aligns with modern hospital naming conventions.
It also includes twice the number of operating theatres, expanded endoscopy and procedure rooms, a dedicated cardiology unit with coronary care and a cardiac catheterisation lab, and a new rooftop helipad.
