Healthcare properties beat data centres as most popular alternative asset

In the region, transactions related to healthcare remain low.

For alternative investments, healthcare assets became the most popular asset in APAC, beating data centres, CBRE study showed.

This was according to CBRE’s latest study which showed investor’s preferred alternative investment in 2023. Other investments include cold storage, real estate debt, retirement or student housing, and infrastructure.

But compared to US and Europe markets, Asia Pacific posted low sales for healthcare assets with US$717m worth of transactions.

There is lower interest to purchasing data centres due to environmental issues.
