The $430m (A655m) redevelopment of Ballarat Base Hospital has entered its final stage, with structural works beginning on the new seven-storey tower, according to the Australian government.
The tower will include a new main entrance off Sturt Street, an emergency department, 100 additional inpatient and short stay beds, a theatre suite, a helipad, and an expanded women and children’s hub.
It will also feature a critical care floor that houses operating theatres, procedure rooms, an expanded intensive care unit, endoscopy suites, and consulting rooms.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027, with demolition, excavation, and foundational works already finished.
