Burjeel Medical City opens osseointegration clinic for amputees

The facility features the Osseointegrated Prosthetic Limb system.

Burjeel Medical City has opened the Al Muderis Osseointegration Clinic to provide prosthetic care for amputees.

The clinic features the Osseointegrated Prosthetic Limb (OPL) system, which uses a titanium implant that integrates with the bone and extends through the skin to attach securely to an external prosthesis.

The OPL allows for ‘osseoperception,’ an experience where users regain sensory feedback through the prosthetic.

The direct connection to the bone allows more natural movement and avoids many problems of traditional socket-based prosthetics.
