Bayside Health begins operations in Victoria, Australia
Each healthcare site under the merger continues to operate under its existing name.
Bayside Health officially commenced operations on 1 January in Victoria, Australia.
The merger combines Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health.
Each hospital and healthcare site will continue to operate under its existing name, with current staff continuing to provide services.
Bayside Health Chief Executive Adam Horsburgh said the voluntary merger aims to improve connected care.
“We are already working to improve connected care, increasing access to clinical trials and creating models to deliver more services closer to home,” Horsburgh said.
The health service covers Melbourne’s southern suburbs, the Mornington Peninsula and extends to Koo Wee Rup, Phillip Island, Bass Coast, and South Gippsland.
