The system uses radar technology to precisely locate tumours.
Australia’s Noosa Hospital has launched a new surgical system designed to treat breast cancer treatments.
The SCOUT system utilises radar technology and assists surgeons in precisely locating tumours, Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, Felicity Adams, said.
In addition, the system replaces the traditional method of inserting a wire before surgery.
“During the surgery, the surgeon uses a probe which can detect the reflector with millimetre accuracy, providing real-time distance measurements,” Adams added.
