Australia's digital health market poised for growth amidst rising demand

One key development is a programme to implement telehealth services in 30 aged care homes.

Australia’s digital health market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 8% through 2033 amidst an increased demand primarily attributed to an ageing population affected by various chronic and mental health disorders, said GlobalData.

The report revealed that Australia accounted for about 12% of the Asia Pacific  market in 2024, driven by substantial investments in healthcare technology and government initiatives.

“Technologies such as telehealth, and digital health records are increasingly being utilised,” Kanchan Chauhan, medical devices analyst at GlobalData, said.

A key development is the launch of a programme to implement telehealth services in 30 aged care homes as part of a 10-year strategy to establish a framework for virtual nursing and the integration of AI and virtual reality.

Meanwhile, a consortium of 15 Primary Health Networks has introduced a free telehealth training package for aged care staff, targeting service gaps, particularly in rural regions.
