Australia’s The Alfred installs total-body Quadra PET scanner

The scanner cuts scan times from one hour to five minutes.

Australia’s The Alfred has installed a total-body Quadra PET scanner within the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre’s Theranostics Service, which is scheduled to open soon.

The scanner cuts scan times from one hour to about five minutes, said Meng Law, Director of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at The Alfred.

It will also be used for neurological research and clinical care involving conditions such as dementia, epilepsy and traumatic brain injury, Law added.

The installation was funded through a $15.5m (A$24m) investment from the Federal Government, the Victorian Government, and philanthropic contributions through The Alfred Foundation.
