Australian gov’t unveils concept design for new $12.8m Launceston Hospice
Construction is set to begin in mid-2025.
The Australian government in Tasmania has released concept designs for a $12.8m (A$20m) hospice in Launceston.
The new hospice will be located at the Allambi Building on Howick Street and will provide at least 10 beds for patients with life-limiting conditions, as well as support for their families and carers.
Health Minister Jacquie Petrusma said the proposed facility was designed to replicate a home-like environment.
“The design promotes dignity, access and connectivity to the existing established garden and courtyard that are unique to the Allambi site,” Petrusma said.
Construction is set to begin in mid-2025, with the hospice expected to be completed and open to accept patients by late 2026.
