Australian gov’t to deploy more paid paramedics in regional WA

Albany, Geraldton, Broome, Carnarvon, and Jurien Bay will benefit from the rollout.

The Australian government has announced an increase in paid paramedics for key regional areas in Western Australia, with additional personnel expected to begin work by mid-2025.

Under the plan, Albany will receive four full-time equivalent (FTE) paramedics, Geraldton and Broome will each receive two, Carnarvon will be allocated two, and Jurien Bay will receive one.

In addition, 1.2 FTE will be allocated to provide relief for country paramedics.

The allocation of resources is determined in consultation with St John WA and the Department of Health based on the region’s demand.
