Australia invests $6.8m in building health and climate research capacity

The funding will support 10 teams studying the health impacts of climate change.

The Australian government is investing nearly $6.8m (A$11m) to build research capacity on the health impacts of climate change under the National Health and Medical Research Council’s 2024 Targeted Call for Research (TCR).

The funding will support 10 research teams focused on understanding the current and future health impacts of climate change on Australians and the strain on the healthcare system.

Proposed research projects will explore key vulnerabilities and identify interventions to improve health outcomes, reduce inequities, and strengthen resilience to climate-related threats.
