Australia invests $666m to West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region
Part of the budget includes the installation of a new CT scanner at the Ripley Satellite Hospital.
The Australian government has announced an allocation of over $666m (A$1b) to the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region in its latest 2024-25 State Budget.
“This year’s record-breaking state budget is delivering more beds, creating more jobs, and building more infrastructure,” Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services, Shannon Fentiman, said.
In line with this, a new computed tomography (CT) scanner has been installed at the Ripley Satellite Hospital as part of the government’s funding.
“This CT scanner is just one of many projects our government is delivering in the Ipswich region, with 290 new beds coming online as part of the Ripley sub-acute facility and Ipswich Hospital expansion,” Fentiman added.
The CT scanner is the third for West Moreton Health and is set to support respiratory health, allied health, and other outpatient clinics at Ripley and Ipswich.
Moreover, it is expected to boost the region’s capacity to around 14,000 CT scans annually.
