Australia invests $2.7m in special care nursery at Albany Health Campus

The facility will cater to preterm infants and newborns with complex health conditions.

The Australian government has announced a $2.7m (A$4.1m) investment to establish a new Level 2 special care nursery at the Albany Health Campus.

The nursery will cater to preterm infants from 34 weeks and newborns with complex health conditions.

The initiative also includes increasing the workforce by adding 5.7 full-time equivalent (FTE) senior nurses, who will work alongside specialist paediatric doctors overseeing the nursery.

Moreover, the redevelopment will double the nursery's current capacity to four bays, with commissioning planned in phases across 2024-25.
