Australia invests $130m to reduce overdue surgeries

This includes $121.1m in funding to expand hospital capacity across New South Wales.

The Australian government in New South Wales is set to invest $130m (A$200m) to reduce overdue surgeries, including those delayed by recent industrial action.

Part of the funding includes an allocation of $121.1m (A$186.4m) to expand hospital capacity statewide, ensuring all Local Health Districts have additional staffing, treatment spaces, and hospital activity support.

Meanwhile, $12.1m (A$18.6m) will be allocated to opening additional theatre lists at selected hospitals during evenings and weekends and rostering extra staff in operating theatres.

A$1 = $0.65
