Australia invests $11.5m for nursing clinical placements in aged care

The funding will support up to 8,000 nursing students.

The Australian government is set to invest $11.5m (A$18.4m) to support up to 8,000 students through the Aged Care Nursing Clinical Placements Programme.

Previously available only to ‘Bachelor of Nursing’ and ‘Master of Nursing’ students, the programme has expanded to include ‘Diploma of Nursing’ students.

Participants will receive guidance from trained clinical facilitators and have access to an online resource hub throughout their placement.

The initiative is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to meet the complex clinical needs of older patients.
