Australia to invest US$93.75m for research into primary care
Funds will go into the study of rare illnesses, primary care, vascular diseases, and diabetes.
The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) has opened grant opportunities with an amassed value of US$93.75m (A$147.5m) for research into rare illnesses, multidisciplinary primary care, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
Applications are available for the following MRFF grant funding:
- 2023 Clinical Trials Activity: US$41.31m (AU$65m) goes into the study of rare cancers, rare diseases unmet needs, and efficient health interventions.
- 2023 Multidisciplinary Models of Primary Care (Streams 1, 2, and 3) and Stream 4: US$26.7m (AU$42m) goes into projects for efficient primary care for patients by multidisciplinary teams.

The opportunities provided will offer an overall US$25.74m (AU$40.5m) to honor the following goals:
- To enhance new diagnostics, devices, and therapies
- To fast-track the distribution of groundbreaking drugs and devices
- To assist patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetic conditions
These are several of the first from the Targeted Translation Research Accelerator Plan EAP's research plan.
