Australia extends fully bulk-billed mobile GP clinic in Hobart

The service operates five days a week and offers walk-in services on a rotating basis.

The Australian government has announced a two-year extension of a fully bulk-billed mobile general practitioner (GP) clinic for residents in and around Hobart, Tasmania, supported by an allocation of $375k (A$550k) in funding from the 2024-25 Budget.

Initially launched as a one-year trial, the clinic operates five days a week and offers walk-in services on a rotating basis.

According to Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing Guy Barnett, the initiative is expected to reduce the burden on frontline services, taking the pressure off emergency departments.

“Subject to further evaluation, the government will consider extending the mobile GP clinic state-wide,” Barnett said.
