Apollo Hospitals launches South Asia's first ZAP-X for brain tumour treatment
The technology offers a non-invasive, pain-free procedure for patients under 30 minutes.
Apollo Hospitals has become the first hospital in South Asia to launch ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery Platform, a hospital technology system specialising in brain tumour treatment.
The platform offers a non-invasive, pain-free procedure for patients, with sessions lasting 30 minutes.
Compared to conventional methods, ZAP-X uses a self-shielded, gyroscopic linear accelerator design to direct radiosurgical beams from potential angles, precisely focusing radiation on the tumour.
Additionally, traditional brain surgeries, which last 3-4 hours, are replaced by ZAP-X's single-session treatment of less than 30 minutes, followed by day-care procedures and post-treatment repose.

ZAP-X has demonstrated high success, with over 95% control rate in 10 years and a 99.4% control rate in five years for smaller tumours.
“We pledge to democratise technology, making it accessible to all citizens and global communities, elevating standards of brain tumour treatment and ensuring better quality of life. ZAP-X strengthens the battle against Non-Communicable Diseases, especially cancers with superior outcomes.” Dr. Prathap Chandra Reddy, Founder Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, said.
Currently, the Apollo Institute of Neurosciences has achieved over 180,000 successful neurosurgeries, supported by more than 300 specialists.
