Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre wins at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026

Klang’s first biplane angiography system powers hybrid operating theatre for precise, streamlined care.

Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre won Facilities Improvement Initiative of the Year - Malaysia in the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026 for the launch of its hybrid operating theatre.

The launch features Klang, Selangor’s first biplane angiography system. This setup merges surgical intervention with real-time imaging in one room. Multidisciplinary teams now deliver faster and safer care for complex cases. YBhg Dato’ Haji Abd. Hamid Bin Hussain, Mayor of Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang, inaugurated the facility on 26 August 2025.

Advanced imaging integrates with surgical suites. The biplane system captures two high-definition images at once. Real-time visualisation enables immediate diagnosis and intervention. Patient transfers are minimised and workflows are streamlined.

Procedural precision improves whilst radiation exposure drops. Complications fall as transfers decrease, and patients gain comfort in time-critical cases like stroke, neurovascular disorders, and cardiac interventions. Care stays continuous in a single environment. 

Technical features include dual-angle biplane angiography for orthogonal imaging. High-resolution flat-panel detectors provide image clarity, whilst a control system synchronises imaging and surgical tools. Custom ventilation, lighting, and ergonomics suit hybrid needs.

Residents in Klang and nearby areas access advanced care locally and no longer need to travel to city centres. The facility boosted capacity for high-risk cases, aligned with Klang’s goal to become a health innovation hub.
