Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital (RSSH) recognised for neuropsychiatric leadership at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026

The hospital earned the accolade for expanding neuromodulation therapies and rehabilitation services.

Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital (RSSH) received the Specialty Hospital of the Year (Neuropsychiatry) - Indonesia at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026, recognising its implementation of an electrophysiology-driven neuropsychiatric care model. The hospital serves as a national referral centre for mental health services in Indonesia and provides promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care through an integrated service structure.

Mental health promotion and early risk identification formed a key part of the hospital’s service delivery. Community outreach programmes and public education activities supported awareness and early engagement with mental health services. Structured mental health check-up services were also offered across age groups, including aptitude and interest assessments, work and academic fitness evaluations, and psychological testing such as the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and Symptom Checklist-90 conducted by licensed psychologists and psychiatrists. Mental health check-up visits increased from 2,642 in 2024 to 3,833 in 2025, reflecting a 45.1% rise in utilisation.

Clinical services incorporated electrophysiology into psychiatric treatment to support diagnostic assessment and therapeutic intervention. Somatic therapies likewise supported treatment for severe and treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions. Electroconvulsive therapy utilisation increased by 45.4% between 2024 and 2025, contributing to symptom control during acute phases of illness and allowing earlier transition from inpatient to outpatient care. Transcranial magnetic stimulation utilisation amongst adult patients rose by 52.6% during the same period and was applied for maintenance therapy and relapse prevention.

Rehabilitation programmes formed another component of the hospital’s service structure. Multidisciplinary teams delivered day care and night care programmes designed to prepare individuals with mental disorders for social reintegration. Rehabilitation visits increased from 9,485 in 2024 to 10,554 in 2025, reflecting a 10.1% increase in programme utilisation. Total patient visits also increased from 84,899 in 2024 to 93,671 in 2025, representing a 10.3% rise in overall service activity.
