The Medical City network earns recognition across four categories at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026
They were lauded for achievements in performance, network growth, medical tourism, and a community programme.
Four recognitions were conferred on organisations within The Medical City network at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026. The Medical City received the Hospital Group of the Year - Philippines and Medical Tourism Initiative of the Year - Philippines awards. The Medical City Clinic received the Clinic Group of the Year - Philippines award, whilst The Medical City Iloilo Hospital, Inc. received the Community Initiative of the Year - Philippines award.
Integrated hospital system performance
A network of hospitals and clinics operating under a single brand supported the recognition for hospital group performance. The Medical City Ortigas functions as the flagship tertiary hospital and maintains Joint Commission International accreditations as an Academic Medical Center with Certified Clinical Programs in Primary Stroke and Acute Myocardial Infarction or Heart Attack. Clinical services across the network also include specialised procedures and transplant programmes developed through collaborations with public healthcare institutions such as Rizal Medical Center.
Expansion outside Metro Manila formed another part of the network’s operations. The Medical City Clark recorded its first Joint Commission International accreditation in 2025 and reported improvements in hospital operations, including higher occupancy levels and positive net profit performance. Standardised clinical governance and operating systems allowed hospital practices developed at the flagship facility to be implemented across regional facilities.
Ambulatory care network expansion
Access to outpatient healthcare formed a key component of the clinic network’s development. The Medical City Clinic expanded its presence from 49 clinics in 2020 to 74 clinics in 2025 across Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Annual patient visits increased to more than 2.15 million within the same period.
Services delivered across the clinics include specialist consultations, diagnostics, imaging, laboratory services, rehabilitation, and preventive care programmes. Referral pathways connect the clinics with hospital-based specialists within The Medical City network, allowing patients to move between ambulatory services and hospital treatment when required.
Cross-border patient coordination
International patient services linked healthcare providers in the Philippines with medical partners in Guam and other Pacific territories. Physicians and healthcare organisations in Guam received access to electronic medical records maintained within The Medical City system, allowing doctors to review diagnostic results and coordinate treatment planning with Philippine-based specialists.
Local physicians from Guam also obtained accreditation to practise within The Medical City facilities for cases requiring specialised care. The International Patient Concierge coordinated travel arrangements, medical scheduling, and administrative documentation for overseas patients receiving treatment within the hospital network.
Community training and employment programme
Community initiatives in Iloilo supported healthcare access and employment opportunities for members of the Ati indigenous community. The Medical City Iloilo Hospital, Inc. launched the ATIPAN Community Adoption Program in April 2023 in partnership with the University of San Agustin, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Health.
The programme introduced activities such as medical missions, feeding programmes, hygiene education sessions, and healthcare training opportunities. A 125-day TESDA healthcare training course admitted six participants from the community. After completing the programme, the graduates underwent clinical training at the hospital and later became regular nursing assistants employed by the institution.
