Medi Linx Laboratory wins at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026 for laboratory management

The Hospital Laboratory Management model sets new quality standards for clinical laboratories in the Philippines.

Medi Linx Laboratory won Laboratory Initiative of the Year - Philippines in the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026 for its Hospital Laboratory Management (HLM) model.

The model transforms hospital laboratories into efficient diagnostic hubs. Medi Linx Laboratory implements and manages end-to-end operations, from manpower to logistics, aligned with local and international standards.

HLM applies the principles of Lean Six Sigma. This cuts inefficiencies in all phases without negatively impacting accuracy & safety, ensuring that clinicians receive reliable data for best patient outcomes and ensures optimisation of the laboratory information system. Standardised formats and critical alerts aid result interpretation, whilst training and equipment checks maintain quality under strict key performance indicators.

The model offers over 400 clinically relevant tests, including specialised and esoteric assays. This expanded test menu empowers clinicians to pursue more precise diagnoses and treatment strategies without delays. Complementing this, a specimen transport system with real-time monitoring preserves specimen integrity.

From 2023 to 2025, HLM laboratories consistently met strict turn-around-time (TAT) targets: Emergency Department (ED) and STAT (Soonest Turn-Around Time) results target of one hour at 98% achievement; Routine testing Turn-Around-Time (TAT) target of 2 hours at 97.5% achievement; and Critical Results Notification Turn-Around-Time (TAT) improved from 15 minutes to 10 minutes at 99% achievement.

In 2025, Medi Linx laboratories served more than 10,000 clinicians and supported 5.76 million procedures for 1.59 million patients. Despite the high demand, laboratory performance remained consistent. What began as a model implemented in a single hospital eight years ago has now expanded to 19 hospitals across the Philippines.
