Gleneagles Hospital Johor wins Tertiary Hospital of the Year - Malaysia at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026

It serves over 200,000 patients annually whilst attracting regional demand and maintaining patient satisfaction.

Gleneagles Hospital Johor has been recognised as Tertiary Hospital of the Year - Malaysia at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s decade-long journey of expanding specialist expertise, tertiary services, and medical innovation in Southern Malaysia.

Since opening in 2015, the hospital has grown rapidly to meet increasing demand for advanced healthcare in the region. What began with 20 specialists and 300 staff has expanded to more than 110 specialists and 1,200 healthcare professionals today.

Patient volumes have risen significantly over the past decade, with more than 200,000 patient visits in 2025. Whilst the hospital serves the Johor community, it has also become a destination for patients from neighbouring regions, including Indonesia and Singapore, seeking specialised medical care.

At the heart of the hospital’s tertiary capabilities are its five Centres of Excellence: Oncology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Neuroscience, and Women & Children’s Health. These centres provide a wide spectrum of advanced services including paediatric surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, arthroplasty procedures, and complex cardiac interventions. Gleneagles Hospital Johor is the only centre in Johor offering minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (MIS CABG). The hospital also operates a state-of-the-art cancer centre, featuring Malaysia’s first digital PET scanner using Gallium radio-isotope technology, enabling more precise cancer imaging and diagnosis.

Operationally, the hospital has integrated value-driven healthcare principles into its clinical management model. By analysing treatment outcomes, patient-reported measures, and cost efficiency, clinical pathways have been redesigned to improve care delivery and remove unnecessary steps in treatment processes.

Digital innovations such as mobile pre-registration, online payments, and bedside admission and discharge processes have also streamlined administrative workflows and improved patient convenience.

Patient feedback further reflects this focus on quality, with data collected from more than 50,000 patients recording a 99% customer satisfaction score and a 97% Total Experience Index.

These milestones reflect Gleneagles Hospital Johor’s transformation over the past decade into a leading tertiary care provider, bringing advanced and specialised healthcare to communities across southern Malaysia and beyond.
