City of Ilagan Medical Center named Secondary Hospital of the Year - Philippines
The hospital was recognised for its triple ISO certifications, 4-Star Green and Safe Health Facilities rating, and strengthened emergency preparedness systems.
City of Ilagan Medical Center won an accolade in the Secondary Hospital of the Year - Philippines category at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026 for its documented improvements in quality management, environmental performance, and disaster readiness. The recognition reflected verified certifications, government-issued ratings, and expanded clinical capacity within its fourth year of licensed operation under the Department of Health.
The hospital maintained its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certifications, reaffirmed on 27-28 November 2025 for another three years. It remained the only triple ISO-certified government hospital in the Cagayan Valley Region. These certifications formalised internal audits, management reviews, occupational safety protocols, and environmental controls across clinical and administrative units.
In 2025, the hospital obtained a 4-Star Green and Safe Health Facilities rating of 94.66% from the Department of Health. The rating followed specific facility measures, including installation of solar-powered perimeter lighting, use of LED systems in hallways, implementation of electricity consumption controls, development of a rainwater collection system, and use of deep well water sources. Indoor plants were also introduced in patient and staff areas as part of environmental health measures.
Clinical capability expanded alongside governance controls. The hospital established a Level 3 Clinical Laboratory, acquired laparoscopy and endoscopy machines, installed a CT scan unit, and initiated the construction of Magnetic Resonance Imaging services. In 2024, it recorded 46,623 patients served. From 2024 to 2025, the served patient volume increased by 27.5% following the integration of additional diagnostic services and workflow adjustments.
Workforce and community preparedness programmes were institutionalised through the Clinical Training and Simulation Facility, which provides Basic Life Support, Standard First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Intravenous Therapy training. A Hospital Reservist Unit composed of 20 trained community volunteers was organised to augment hospital operations during peak demand and disasters. Hands-only CPR training kiosks were installed in high-traffic areas within the hospital to support public emergency response education.
